Anybody got some 'pit-stick?
*raises hand.
a few interesting quotes:.
"religions are all alike - founded upon fables and mythologies.
I'd have to throw in a slighty qualified affirmative. I don't entirely discount the idea of a higher power of some sort, but "God" as portrayed by the bible - that's a tough one. But if anyone offered definitive proof, I'd be open-minded enough to accept it. I think that christians and for that matter, anyone that believes in an all-supreme diety of some description, see atheists as "godless" people who lack "morals" and reject the idea of GOD simply for selfish reasons, etc. Scientists get the same deal too. We just want to know what is and what isn't based on proof, that's all. Show me proof, and I will follow the direction in which the proof points.

although it is generally known that skeletal remains and fossils give us a much older date for the existance of humans, do jws still take the bible's cronology as literal fact?

You would think that in this age of information and discovery that some of the regular dubs must secretly be thinking for themselves stuff that they wouldn't take literally anymore. But then, that would bring up the issue of whether the org is "spirit directed", or whatever term is currently fashionable.

The fallen look on her face told me that my decision was more devastating to her than my possible condition.
This shows the extent of the Society's control over individuals. The fact that "medical directive" cards even exist just shows how the Society is reluctant to really make the whole issue a matter of personal choice. Contrast this to the "agreement" they signed with the Bulgarian officials re the blood issue. I'd be curious as to how much currently active dubs know about what went down in Bulgaria anyway. Have you ever discussed this with your wife?

"I respond: "No. I suburn easily and I'm allergic to bug bites." Yes, that's what I really said."
And it could be quite traumatic for small children merrily skipping along thru a meadow and happen upon Little Bo-Peep's favorite pet being devoured by Tigger, which is actually what the natural outcome is if you put those kinds of animals together.

soooo...i was in at the bank last week and had a great discussion with the teller there.
she has been in banking for over 20 years and despite using this bank for the past 3 years, this was the first time we had a chance to gab.
this was a bank in california by the way.
The average joe up here who carries cash will typically have an assortment of 5, 10, and 20 dollar bills in the wallet and after a day of being out and about paying cash will end up with upwards of 10 or 15 dollars worth of 1 and 2 dollar coins in the pocket which get spent on small item purchases or saved for christmas etc. I don't miss the 1 or 2 dollar bills we once had. Vending machines, juke boxes, video lottery terminals, pool tables etc. all require coinage, some of them at least 1 dollar so it 1 and 2 dollar coins are most useful. Paper dollars would actually be a pain in the butt in today's marketplace, as are pennies, nickels and dimes. The government could dispence with the small coinage IMHO.
